Mumbai: In a crucial IPL match on Wednesday, Faf du Plessis, the stand-in captain for Delhi Capitals, won the toss and opted to bowl first against the Mumbai Indians.
The Delhi team faced a significant setback as their regular captain, Axar Patel, was unable to play due to illness.
Du Plessis expressed concern, stating, "He has been really sick in the last two days. We’ll miss him today. Axar is two players and it’s difficult to replace him. We’ll see how it goes."
In response to the situation, Mumbai Indians made a strategic change, bringing in Mitchel Santner to replace Corbin Bosch.
